Jesus at the Centre of it ALL

As we enter into 2014, we step into a new chapter of our lives. At the Watchnight Service on 31st December 2013, I shared about 'defining moments’.

We must be able to spot these defining moments in our lives and take them seriously.  They are placed there to draw us closer to God.

Whatever happens in 2014, let us make Jesus the Centre of it ALL.  He is the end all and be all of our choices in life.  He is the reason why we live and the end point of our living.

Let us seek to magnify Him, model after Him and, in everything that we do, minister unto Him.

As Colossians 3:24 tells us, 'whatever we do, do it as unto the Lord and not unto men’. (KJV)

As a church, we in SIBKL, must constantly put Jesus at the Centre of it ALL.  The rise of atheistic mega churches in the West serves as a warning to us in Malaysia not to be distracted by projects, plans and programs. In these atheistic churches, everything is the same as in our present churches, except that God is not even mentioned.

It is so easy to be insidiously lulled into this kind of godless Christianity that is so prevalent in the West, where Christ can be mentioned but not worshipped. Jesus is reduced to a mere spectator in the church while man-centred programs take main stage. Jesus is seen as a moral example like any good man, not the Son of the Living God.

For 2014, God spoke to us at SIBKL, to put Jesus back as the main focus.  Jesus is and will always be our focus.  Jesus is our first love.  We choose to honour the Lord Jesus and we will make Him prominent and pre-eminent in our lives.

The words of the apostle Paul in Colossian 2:6-7 echo in my spirit.  My prayer is that we will take these words to heart and live by it so that 2014 will be a wonderful and blessed year.

'So then, just as you received Christ Jesus, as Lord, continue to live in Him, rooted and built up in Him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.'

Let us make Jesus Christ the Centre of our lives.
