On 12th September, we had our monthly PRAY time. We continued the discussion of the book by Francis Frangipane - Holiness, Truth, and the Presence of God, Part Five: The sweet taste of Holy fruit.
We considered something about the differences between being religious and being spiritual. It was interesting when we went through the comparisons that we listed out. It was even mind-blowing after watching a demonstration of handshaking, to spot the differences between religiousity and spirituality, but we couldn't.
Likewise, we can pray and read the bible daily, attend prayer meetings and cell meetings regularly, serve in the ministry, fast occasionally, yet not being spiritual. However, these disciplined religious activities do help us to form a godly life. But if we do not distinguish between religiousity and spirituality, it is possible that we may develop in becoming more and more religious and not spiritual.
Matthew 6, the comparisons between religiousity and spirituality through the ways of practicing righteousness, praying and fasting.
Religiousity and spirituality. There are no ways to show the differences from the external but from the internal part of our life. The bible says that in the last days, there are many people have a form of godliness but denying its power. The power to reproduce life is in the fruit. And the fruit we must display comes from the tree of life.
John 15:5
"I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing."
Holiness is a tree ripe with fruit. Let's always selfcheck. God bless.
