Creative Ministry Retreat #1

At the close of our first Creative Ministry retreat held in Malaysia Bible Seminary Recreation & Training Centre (MBS) on January 18-20, exhausted campers & the committees had reason to be proud. We had reached a breakthrough – officially to combine as one ministry (Worship Ministry + Media Ministry), uniting two awesome groups as one tribe.

Some highlights from the retreat:

1.    The Appreciation Dinner

- Delicious food and door gift to thank everyone for serving in 2012 faithfully!

- Nicely designed photo booth for Rockstarz Glam Vs Cool Nerds to take pictures. The dressed up models even went head-to-head in the final.

- The creativity at the song composing for the rhymes was quite jaw dropping, everyone was grinning ear to ear.

2.    The Games

- Congrats to all of you who survived from “Fill the Bucket”, “River Crossing”, “Pop Quiz”, “Blind Train” & “Apple Pie”!

- Whether you played trick to win the games, suffered from carrying someone or got dirty up by the flour, it was really encouraging to see all of you giving your best to involve. *CLAP! CLAP!* Keep the spirit on even when we serve alongside together this year!

- Surely the climax would be the “Egg Catapult” which shattered some people’s stone-cold determination to try again and again launching their egg capsules as furthest as they could. Apology for the technical problem as the DIY catapult didn’t go through the QC process. But thanks to the game master who still led us to finish the game as fair as we could.

3.    The Merge

Start from 2013, we are all under one name called CREATIVE MINISTRY (CM). The names “Atone” and “Media” are forbidden. Kindly use “Worship Ministry” and “Media Ministry” if you want to talk about old times.

Below is our new leadership team organisation chart, do remember all their names and faces.

Our CM admin department will be assisted from representatives from various section as well as contributions by the Church Office.

All things will be centralised for communications, celebration services, related activities, outreach and prayer meeting. We’ll have only one set of procedures and policies as well.

This means we’ll have all things as one tribe, such as:

- scheduling, recruitment, Gotong-royong, quarterly CM core meetings
- email communication (CM newsletter, weekly celebration service email and coordination among relevant section heads, email debrief, discussions etc)
- call times, punctuality, cut-off times, swapping, pre-service prayer and briefings, post-service debriefings, claims and P.R.A.Y. Time participation.

For 2013, we will be using one discipleship syllabus studying the book “Holiness, Truth and the Presence of God” by Francis Fragipane, which the book will be provided, along with devotional questions to be discussed during P.R.A.Y. Times.

P.R.A.Y. Time will involve in two parts:
(except for April, July and November, the CM will come together in a big group for testimonies, performances, worship, preaching and prayer.)
• Part 1 (8-9pm)    - Small group sharing on a section of the book (provided discussion questions by Ps Dan)
• Part 2 (9-10pm)  - Break into sections for skill training and/or bonding

Please take note of some activities, outreach, events and projects that the whole CM will be working on much more closely together:
- cell worship conference (17 March)
- bimonthly ministry to LBA (every second Saturday of the odd month)
- Sabah Mission trip GEMS camp: Ministry to Sabah school leavers (31 May – 2 June)
- SIB Semenanjung outreach: Ministry to SIB Kuala Kubu Baru (17 November – tentative)
- Easter (March)
- SMCC Dedication Service (June)
- Merdeka Celebrations (August)
- Christmas (December)
- Live Streaming/Broadcasting Project
- Hari Sukan
- SIBBM Conference & Tour

Also, you are strongly encouraged to attend our church-wide Tues prayer meetings once a month, especially on the week where the CM has been rostered to serve!

Last but not least, live out our VISION AND DIRECTION for 2013:

1. To be responsible for the worship and creative atmosphere of the church.

2. To grow one another as a tribe, from a spiritual, social and skill perspective.

Thank you for making our first retreat a successful one - a good start for the merge. It is truly A NEW SEASON for all of us, therefore, A NEW MOMENTUM to be required to serve God as a tribe. Thanks to those who made effort to come, and for those who weren’t able to make it, we missed you and we hope you’ll be able to attend the impartations throughout the year to catch up what’s been going on. 

We are on course for a refiner’s fire!
